Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal and now BJP's Delhi chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi were
Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal challenged Bharatiya Janata Party's Kiran Bedi for a public debate on Tuesday which the saffron party's chief ministerial candidate accepted saying she "will debate him on the floor of the house".
"@thekiranbedi congrats 4 being nominated as BJP's CM candidate. I invite u 4 a public debate moderated by neutral person n telecast by all," Kejriwal tweeted.
Four days after she joined the BJP, former Indian Police Service officer Bedi was on Monday named the party's CM candidate for Delhi, in a break from the party's practice of not naming the candidate for top posts in states. The announcement was made late Monday night at a press conference addressed by party president Amit Shah.Bedi will not be in direct contest with the AAP chief with BJP fielding former DUSU president Nupur Sharma from the New Delhi seat. HT was the first to report that Sharma may take on Kejriwal."@thekiranbedi Kiranji, i used to follow u on twitter. Now, u have blocked me on twitter. Kindly unblock me," he also tweeted. To which Bedi said she has blocked Kejriwal on Twitter after he called himself an anarchist.

While Bedi will file her nomination for the Delhi polls on Wednesday from Krishna Nagar seat in east Delhi, Kejriwal tweeted he is on his way to sign the papers to fight from the New Delhi constituency. Krishna Nagar is considered a BJP stronghold.
Bedi and Kejriwal were both members of Team Anna during social activist Anna Hazare's campaign for jan lokpal bill. They fell out over Kejriwal's decision to launch a political party and Bedi has been a staunch critic of the AAP leader since then.
Delhi goes to the polls on February 7 and the votes will be counted on February 10.Friday, 16 January 2015

Exciting breakthrough as Indian scientists ‘turn plastic into petrol and diesel’
India will soon be able to convert its plastic wastes into high-grade petrol and diesel, thanks to a breakthrough by researchers at the Dehradun-based Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP).The IIP, a constituent lab of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, has for the first time in the country developed a technology to convert plastic waste into petroleum products.
The green technology is so far available only in Germany, Japan and the US, while Australia and the UK are still working on it.
The technology converts plastic into gasoline, diesel or aromatics through the use of a combination of suitable catalysts.
It will also produce LPG as a common by-product.
It will also produce LPG as a common by-product.
According to IIP Director M.O. Garg, the fuels obtained (gasoline and diesel) through the process employed in the technology meet Euro-III standards and are of ultra high-quality.With almost nil sulfur content, the diesel obtained through the process is said to be of high quality.
It will lead to vastly reduced emissions from engines, officials said.
An engine run on this fuel will enable a vehicle to run for at least two kilometers more per liter than ordinary diesel.

“We have applied for a patent. We developed this after nearly a decade of intensive research. We are now planning to commercialize the technology although we are still engaged in the process of engineering to design heavy machinery and processes,” Garg told Mail Today.
“The current prices of petrol, which is derived from crude hydrocarbons, range between Rs 70 to Rs 80 per liter. Petrol in this case costs Rs 30 to Rs 40 per liter, inclusive of the cost of plant, operations, manpower and land cost,” Garg said.”There is a mammoth amount of solid waste generated in the country. It could be procured at a minuscule cost.”
The fuel is said to be ideal for captive users like the state road transport corporations, the defense establishment and railways.
In the absence of effective implementation and enforcement of Hazardous Wastes (Management and Handling) Rules of 1989, the handling of plastic waste continues to be a major challenge in the country.

As you’re reading this post on facebook, you must be aware that to log into Facebook you need an email account. But have you ever wondered about the origins of email?
Email turned 32 yesterday. But how many of us know that, VA Shiva Ayyadurai an Indian-American scientist invented Email when he was just 14.
Email turned 32 yesterday. But how many of us know that, VA Shiva Ayyadurai an Indian-American scientist invented Email when he was just 14.
Ayyadurai was born to a Tamil Family in Bombay. At the age of seven, he left with his family to live in the US. In 1978, aged 14, he developed a full-scale emulation of the interoffice mail system which he called “E-mail”. It replicated all the functions of the interoffice mail system: Inbox, Outbox, Folders, Memo, Attachments, Address Book, etc. These features are now familiar parts of every email system.
Studying at Livingston High School in New Jersey, Ayyadurai began his work on the email system for the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He closely observed that the desktop of each secretary, in addition to the typewriter, had an Inbox, Outbox, Drafts, Carbon Copy Paper, Folders, Address Book, Paper Clips (for attachments), etc, which they used each day to create and process incoming and outgoing mail.
Then he conceived an electronic version of this system. He created a computer programme of over 50,000 lines of code, which electronically replicated all the features of the interoffice mail system.
On August 30, 1982, the US government officially recognized Ayyadurai as the inventor of email by awarding him the first US Copyright for Email for his 1978 invention. Yet his name is nowhere in modern history of computer science. Whoever claims the invention, Ayyadurai will remain the father of E-mail. We hope he gets the name in history he deserves.

How does a Man prove he did not demand Dowry, in a Dowry Case?
There happened to take place a series of twists and turns in the case of#RohtakSisters fighting molesters on a Haryana bus; an incident that led to nation-wide outrage. The Logical Indian team, along with Deepika Bhardwaj, an independent journalist traveled to Rohtak to dig deep into the case and find out the true face of the Rohtak sisters.

The Logical Indian sincerely hopes that we all realize the seriousness of the fact that ‘false cases’ of crime against women are an injustice to not only the men but also the women who are genuinely abused. It’s time to ponder, what if the boys are innocent? Who pays for the time they spend in jail, and who pays for the abuses and the humiliation? Shouldn’t there be an equally strict law against the ones who register false cases? It’s high time we think about a solution. Kindly share your thoughts and suggestions with #CrimeHasNoGender

Blindness Was Not Enough To Blur Ajit’s Vision of a Career In The IAS
Posted by
ER. RAVI KUMAR (R.K.C)
“We are only as blind as we want to be”.
Nothing can sum up the story of professor-turned-IAS officer Ajit Kumar Yadav better than this adage. Yadav, who lost his vision at the tender age of five years after suffering from an acute case of diarrhoea, is only the second ever blind candidate to secure the coveted seat of an IAS officer.
Even after losing his vision, Ajit did not lose vision of his dreams. His brilliant performance, right from his school days, made it evident that a diligent IAS officer was in the making. He topped his Class X board exams. He also cleared the UGC NET-JRF and worked as an assistant professor with Delhi University. But in 2005, when the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh opened the doors of IAS to the visually impaired, Yadav was motivated to join the administration.
• THE SUCCESS AND THE STRUGGLE
Yadav appeared for the civil services exam in 2008 and ranked 208 out of 791. While expecting a letter for induction into the IAS, he was instead offered a seat in Indian Railway Personnel Service. He fought back, filing a case against the discrimination. The Central Administrative Tribunal ruled in his favour in 2010, but he still had a long way to go. After fighting for two long years, his appointment letter finally arrived on February 14, 2012.
• THE TOOLS AND THE TASKS
Having gone through his probation, Ajit joined his IAS post as joint secretary, department of industries, in Tripura in 2012 and since May 2014, he has been serving as the SDM of Ambassa, Tripura. From Braille pens to various enabling software such as JAWS (Jobs Access With Sppech), Ajit has had an array of technological tools which help him work. Ajit shows equal keenness in the field work that his job demands. He’s tough on offenders and makes sure they are duly penalised. Recently, he stopped the marriage of a minor orphan girl and booked the 40-yr old groom for the crime.
Ajit says, “If you want to bring about a change in someone’s life, you need to add motivation… But having got my dream job isn’t everything.” This is what the words of an ambitious change-maker sound like.
We cannot appreciate Mr. Ajit Kumar Yadav enough for his undying spirit and determination to achieve what he wanted to. His perseverance and firmness have helped him look beyond his blindness. Acquiring a position as esteemed as that of an IAS, Ajit has not only scored a victory against his disability, but also has motivated and inspired hundreds other like him to work harder.

India’s first interplanetary mission continues to set its trail ablaze as ISRO’s Mars Orbiter Programme Team, headed by Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai, was announced the winners of the 2015 Space Pioneer Award in the Science and Engineering category by the US-based National Space Society (NSS).
The award, which is in recognition of the success of the rare feat in its maiden attempt, will be presented to an ISRO representative in May, during the NSS’s 34th International Space Development Conference, to be held in Toronto, Canada.
The award, which is in recognition of the success of the rare feat in its maiden attempt, will be presented to an ISRO representative in May, during the NSS’s 34th International Space Development Conference, to be held in Toronto, Canada.
As per a statement issued by the Society, “This mission has achieved two significant mission firsts.1. An Indian spacecraft has gone into orbit around Mars on the very first try. No other country has ever done this.2. The spacecraft is in an elliptical orbit with a high apoapsis, and has a high resolution camera which is taking full-disk color imagery of Mars. Very few full disk images have ever been taken in the past, mostly on approach to the planet, as most imaging is done looking straight down in mapping mode. These images will aid planetary scientists.”
The Mars Orbiter Mission, or Mangalyaan, was launched by the state-run space agency on board its PSLV C25 from Sriharikota’s Satish Dhawan Space Centre on November 5, 2003 and went into orbit on September 24, 2014. The mission is a project to develop technologies for design, planning, management, and operations of an interplanetary mission, and carries five instruments that will help advance knowledge about the red planet to achieve its secondary, scientific objective.
India’s First CNG Powered Train Flagged Off
Posted by
ER. RAVI KUMAR (R.K.C)
Environmentally friendly means of travel are quickly becoming all the more important as the technology progresses and governments realize its importance. Not only do such measures reduce the negative impact on the environment due to existing methods, they also lead to reduce costs over the long run.
In a significant move towards eco-friendly mass transport, the railway minister Suresh Prabhu flagged off the very first Indian dual fuel train. The term ‘dual fuel’ signifies that the train can utilize both Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as well as diesel for locomotion. The train runs between the Rewari-Rohtak section of northern zone. It has a capacity of 770 passengers.
There are two power cars and six car coaches which have been manufactured by Integral Coach Factory at Chennai with the CNG conversion kits supplied by Cummins.
Currently, CNG would account for 20% of the fuel requirements of the modified 1400 BHP engine. Officials have stated that the usage will increase up to 50% once the final trials for the same are successfully completed. CNG engines emit lesser pollutants (especially green house gases) and almost no particulate contaminants. The highlight is the fact that these engines emit 90% less Carbon Monoxide, and 25% less Carbon Di-Oxide. This obviously reduces the Carbon-impact on the environment. Also rather impressively, these cleaner engines will reduce running costs by 50% which is a huge margin.
The officials said too that more trains like this will be put in to service once the CNG technology has matured and abundant supply of the green fuel is established. There are also plans to introduce Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) based solutions.
This marks a significant milestone in the Indian railways scene.
Want to contest against Kejriwal in New Delhi seat, says Kiran Bedi
Posted by
ER. RAVI KUMAR (R.K.C)
A day after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Kiran Bedi said on Friday she was ready to contest against Aam Aadmi Party chief and her former Team Anna colleague, Arvind Kejriwal, in the Delhi assembly polls if her party wants.
Bedi rebutted AAP's criticism over changing her stand on not joining politics, saying she was free to make her own choices and her "aversion" was gone due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
"The constituency selection is always a decision of party. I will go by their decision. If they want me to fight against him, I will do so. Because they know better than I do. They have not brought me to lose, they have brought me to win," the former IPS officer said when asked whether she is likely to be pitted against Kejriwal in the upcoming polls.
The AAP had on Thursday termed her joining BJP as "shocking".
"It is sad and shocking that Bedi, who had been maintaining that she will always remain apolitical and keep raising the issues of people, has joined the BJP. Our best wishes are with her," party leader Sanjay Singh had said.
Kejriwal had also taken a subtle dig at Bedi saying he had also tried to convince her to take a plunge into politics.
"I do not wish to go into the past. I am in present and looking towards future. I have a right to make my own choices and nobody can question that. I want to lead my life as per my own wish," Bedi retorted on Friday.
Kejriwal and Bedi were part of the core team of social activist Anna Hazare who had spearheaded a massive agitation to press for the passage of jan lokpal bill in Parliament. The two had parted ways in 2012 after Kejriwal's decision to float a political party.
"I am not here to win or lose. I am here to see that the party wins. If I win I am excellent, if I don't win I still win. I have so much to go back to," said Bedi.
She, however, did not respond to queries whether her entry in the BJP is likely to play a gamechanger.
"Time will tell. We need a stable government in Delhi. A year has passed and we have paid a huge price," she said.
Bedi, who had been hailing Modi and supporting BJP through her Twitter posts since the start of campaign for Lok Sabha polls last year, said, "The change of leadership made me change my mind. The way Narendra Modi is changing the world around. The way NRIs are flocking into the country to invest now and the way the nation's hopes have been revived, the aversion has gone"
The former IPS officer was inducted into the BJP fold in the presence of party president Amit Shah and Union ministers Arun Jaitley and Harsh Vardhan at the party's headquarters on Thursday.
The BJP is set to decide on January 19 on Bedi's role in the upcoming Delhi elections, but at a press conference on Thursday she dropped broad hints that she sees herself as a candidate for the top job.
"I want to make Delhi the capital of this country in the real sense. Delhi ko dil banana hai. Whatever experience, time and energy I have, I will devote to the nation and I am very happy the BJP has given me the opportunity to do so," she had said.
"My aim is to see that Delhi gets a stable, clear-headed, honest and courageous government."
These remarks were picked up as signals revealing her desire to become the next chief minister of Delhi after the February 7 poll if the BJP fares better than the 31 seats it managed in the 2013 election.
Shah had not named the constituency she would be contesting from and left it to the BJP parliamentary board to take a call on the next chief minister.
"Every BJP worker has the ability to become chief minister. Bedi is also a BJP worker now," Shah had said.

15 Underrated Destinations In India Every Traveler Must Check Out
Posted by
ER. RAVI KUMAR (R.K.C)
India has no dearth of beautiful travel destinations. Some are more popular and more commercialized than others. That in no way implies that the lesser-known places have anything less to offer; just that they haven't been explored as much. This is why you need to know places that aren't as saturated by tourists. You need a list of the most underrated travel options in India. You would be surprised by how much this country has to offer.
1. Tarkarli, Maharashtra
Frankly, almost any beach on the Konkan coast could have qualified for this spot. Tarkarli, in Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra, with its pristine waters, long and narrow beaches with Shuru trees in the background, managed to earn some extra points. It's one of the most peaceful and non-commercialized beaches in India.
2. Lambasingi, Andhra Pradesh
The very fact that Lambasingi, in Vishakhapatnam district in Andhra Pradesh, is one of those rare places in South India that boasts of snowfall makes this village an amazing place. Throughout the year, the temperature there ranges from 0°C to 10°C, earning it the nickname, 'Kashmir of South India'. Better go there before the others do.
3. Osian, Rajasthan
Osian village in Jodhpur district in Rajasthan is a delight for those who love historical architecture and the fact that you get to see all of it in an oasis in the Thar Desert makes it a double whammy. The 8th to 11th century temples there make this village a must-visit destination.
4. Keibul Lamjao on Loktak Lake, Manipur
Keibul Lamjao, in Bishnupur district in Manipur is the world's only floating park and it's also home to the endangered Sangai deer. The floating garden on Loktak Lake is a result of decomposing plant material, locally called phumdis. You have to see it to believe it.
5. Gavi, Kerala
We usually associate trekking with mountains and hills. But this is one wildlife trek you wouldn't want to miss. Located in Pathanamthitta district in Kerala, on the highway connecting Kollam and Madurai, Gavi is part of the Periyar Tiger Reserve. It is said that the only two gopher trees in India can be found in Gavi.
6. Kasar Devi/Crank's Ridge, Uttarakhand
If you're interested in the hippie-way of life but are tired of the huge number of tourists in Himachal Pradesh, you need to make it a point to visit Kasar Devi village near Almora in Uttarakhand. Crank's Ridge, or Hippie Hill as the locals call it, on the way to Kasar Devi temple is also a historical place for hippies. Legends like Allen Ginsberg, Bob Dylan and Cat Stevens are some of the few people who visited this place during the peak of the Hippie movement in the sixties.
7. Lonar Crater, Maharashtra
Located in Buldana district in Maharashtra, the Lonar Crater Lake was formed around 570,000 years ago due to a meteor impact. Owing to its high concentration of carbonate salts it's categorized as a saline soda lake. So, it's a soda lake formed by a crater. Enough said.
8. Krem Mawmluh & Krem Ri Blai, Meghalaya
Cave exploration hasn't taken off in a big way in India, which is really surprising considering there are so many options to do so in this country. Krem Mawmluh and Krem Ri Blai, in Mehgalaya, are natural horizontal and vertical caves respectively. Make it a point to visit them at least once in your life.
9. Killar-Kishtwar Highway, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir
You cannot be a true traveler until you go on an exciting road trip. Speaking of which, the one trail you need to experience is the treacherous but life-changing ride from Himachal Pradesh to Jammu & Kashmir through the Killar-Kishtwar Highway. Not for the faint hearted, this scenic mountain pass is even more fun if you're traveling with fellow bikers. Just keep yourself updated on news about landslides and roadblocks.
10. Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh
Ziro is a town in the Lower Subansiri district in Arunachal Pradesh and it has been hosting the Ziro Festival of Music for the past three years. But here's the thing - the quaint little town is so attractive, that even without a crowd pulling event, it would find a spot on this list.
11. Haflong, Assam
North-East India is dotted with hill stations but surprisingly, Haflong is the only one in Assam. The center of the Dima Hasao district, Haflong is known for its cool climate, local liquor and an overwhelming love of pork. The Haflong Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in the entire North-east. Not visiting this hill town would be a huge mistake.
12. Wayanad, Kerala
This piece of trivia goes out especially to those trying to escape the city life for a while - Wayanad district is only 3.79% urbanized. Yep, lots of greenery here. Ancient history geeks can also trip out on the Edakkal caves where they can see actual pictorial writings from the Neolithic period.
13. Auli, Uttarakhand
We Indians usually tend to associate snow with places like Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir or Sikkim but did you know Uttarakhand actually has one of the most exciting ski destinations? The picturesque town of Auli hosts the National Championships of Snow Skiing and right next to the Clifftop Hotel, the town also has the world's highest artificial lake.
14. Nuranang Falls, Arunachal Pradesh
Located about 2 km away from the town of Jang on the road connecting Tawang and Bomdila in Arunachal Pradesh, Nuranang Falls is one the most attractive ones in Northeast India. After a song from the 1997 Bollywood film Koyla was filmed here, the place attracted more tourists.
15. Unakoti, Tripura
The stone carvings in Unakoti in Tripura are one of the most detailed ones in India and yet, this place is rarely visited. As per Hindu mythology, when Lord Shiva was going to Kashi along with one crore gods and goddesses, he made a night halt at this location. He asked all of them to wake up before sun rise. It is said that in the morning, except Shiva himself, no one else woke up on time. So Shiva set out for Kashi on his own cursing the others to become stone images. Perfect for both spirituality and history enthusiasts, this is truly one of the most underrated places in the country.
